The hinterland of Torre dell'Orso is rich in history, between dolmens and menhirs, but the town is also a mundane center, with its nightlife and the many clubs that offer fun in the long warm nights of the summer months, with festivals and overwhelming pizzica in the evenings of the square.

Melendugno and surroundings

Extended between Torre Specchia and Torre Sant'Andrea for 15km, Melendugno is characterized by fine sandy beaches and crystal clear sea.It also has its historical and cultural heritage. Scattered throughout the territory are in fact numerous remains of ancient prehistoric buildings, dolmens and menhirs, as well as ancient fortified cities, fortresses, castles overlooking the sea and watchtowers symbols of the historical evolution of the place. Melendugno, immersed in expanses of olive groves and the remains of ancient oil mills have always been the main source for the economy of the territory, still preserves today in its inhabited center ancient churches and palaces in medieval style. Diamond point among the postcard views that characterize the area, the view of the island Saseno and the mountains of Albania, which can be seen in the days of clear sky. Melendugno boasts a rich and vibrant historical, artistic, cultural and natural heritage scattered between the Salento hinterland and the Adriatic coast. The town is located in a short distance from the hamlet of Borgagne, a village of ancient rural origins. Borgagne boasts in its historic center the presence of the traditional "court houses", housing complexes where most of the daily activities and work took place, and of the tower or fortified masserie, dating back to the XVI century. The Petraroli castle, built in 1497 by the baron Belisario Petraroli, stands in the historic center. Symbols of an ancient past also the Mother Church Presentation of the Lord dating back to the late sixteenth century, and the Church of Our Lady of Carmine dated 1619.The rural environment of the territory of Melendugno is dominated by lush expanses of olive trees and numerous remains of ancient crushers hypogea, the trappiti, made by digging the calcareous bench for the creation of undergrounds. The historical center also preserves the remains of the original building. Among the court houses dating back to the medieval period we find the remains of primordial buildings such as abbeys, castles and the five watchtowers dating back to the second half of the 16th century. Characterized by the melendugnese coastline are its splendid marinas:

San Foca, a tourist port and fishing town, is home to two beaches of great appeal: that of the Brigantini and that of the Aranci. The Grotta degli Amanti is also unique, so named for the ancient legend according to which two young lovers would find shelter here. Even today it is said that during the spring period are the sighs and the love phrases of the two engaged couples to animate gout.

• Roca Vecchia is a very particular stretch of coast. The real jewel of the area is the Grotta della Poesia where, according to a legend, a beautiful princess used to take a bath. With the spread of the news, the hosts of poets went to this place to admire the beautiful princess and compose verses in his honor.

Torre dell'Orso, immersed in a splendid and dense pine wood, is characterized by wide inlets and numerous small caves. Thanks to its white beaches and the clear sea is one of the most sought after tourist destinations in Salento. Not far from the sea there are also two beautiful faraglioni, united and close enough to be called The Two Sisters.

Torre Sant'Andrea, southern limit of the melendugnese territory, has a rocky and indented coastline with massive stacks, alternating with crystalline water coves.

Villaggio piccolo ma confortevole, buon cibo, camere belle e spaziose ma con scarsa pulizia.

Bel villaggio, adatto a famiglie sopratutto con bambini.

Accogliente. Molto bella la location. Camere spaziose e pulite. Brava e sempre attenta e disponibile la direttrice Giovanna che ha fatto anche quello che non le toccava. Bravissimi i ragazzi dell'animazione. Si è mangiato bene. E a differenza della grandi strutture tutto fumo e niente arrosto siamo rimasti molto contenti di questo posto. Bravissimi tutti.
