Gabicce Mare and its surroundings
In the northernmost part of the Adriatic coast, on the border with Emilia Romagna we find an enchanting village set amid the wonders of nature: the village of Gabicce Monte.
It rises on a promontory just off the small bay of Gabicce Mare, in the last stretch of the Gulf of Rimini, from which it is possible to have a very wide view: the cities of Cesenatico, Rimini with its majestic skyscraper, Porto Verde and the cakes hills of the Marche hinterland. Thanks to this natural heritage, Gabicce Monte is the only resort to put together sea, hill and natural park, with the result of a surprisingly varied landscape and a unique atmosphere. roads of the small village can be encountered sports enthusiasts of cycling, and hiking that want to experience the emotion in the Park of Monte San Bartolo.Gabicce Monte is a country-sized man, where you can move quietly on foot, making relaxing walks, away from traffic and chaos.
For this reason it is a destination much loved by families with children, as well as couples looking for romantic views. From Gabicce Monte you can go for example the "Cycle Trail" completely immersed in nature, through which you get directly to the marina and halfway through the route you will find an ancient source, the "Source of the Coppo", from which springs water from the great beneficial and curative properties. The resort enjoys an important not only geographical, but also historical. The origin dates back to a community that lived in the 909 around the Church of S. Ermete, which is still today at the entrance of the village. Within the Church of Sant'Ermete there are some reliquaries and precious candlesticks to witness the wealth of furnishings that decorated her before the numerous plunder suffered in different times. Among the most important works we find in the place of worship the painting of the "Madonna del Latte", which comes from the Marchesian school of the fifteenth century and a wooden crucifix that dates back to the 14th century and belongs to the Rimini school. At that time the summit of the hill was probably already fortified: a testimony of this is a document of 998 which names it with the Latin spelling "Castellum Ligabitii" by the name of the Ligabitio feudalty. The small nucleus of houses that surround the square Valbruna is what remains of the ancient hamlet by Gabicce Monte.
